Description
I took this photo of these mountain ash leaves into the sun, which created a delicate, translucent effect through the leaves. The mountain ash or sorbus, is native to both Europe and North America but introduced varieties from Europe, where it is called the Rowan Tree, are commonly grown as ornamentals in North America. Birds favor the clusters of red berries they produce and very often large flocks of cedar waxwings feed on them in our area. Photograph taken in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Jim Sauchyn replied:
Thanks Blair. The colors of the leaves on this tree are very intense and I shot this with the sun behind which intensified the hues.
